Like the others, the caller asked if this was a street that I live on she didn't address me by name or even know my actual house number. She said she was from the Telegram office and asked if I knew a Mr Kumar at number 34. I did not confirm and told her that she needed a different line as that one was well dodgy. She hung up.

This is Telogram Ltd (not Telegram), registered office at 100 Barbirolli Sq, Manchester M2 3AB. Company reg no. 05484229. Office hours 9am to 5pm. They are either a debt collection agency or tracing/private investigation company. They're not going to be giving you news about you're long lost Aunt in Australia leaving you a small fortune in her will.

This number phoned me at 16h49 on 12JAN09. She asked if this was [my house number and street] and if I knew a phone number for the next-door-but-one house. She named the former occupant (correctly), and said she believed he'd moved to Australia and could I confirm this. She said they were The Telegram Company. I said, "Do we still do telegrams?' - she said they were a separate company. I asked how they'd got my number: she said 'electoral register' [so why didn't she know my name?]
