I have already stupidly been scammed by these people, they took money from my credit card & the things they installed on my laptop burned out the hard drive. They called again today to try to get me to let them into my new laptop by saying they were going to give me a refund because Microsoft were moving their head office & they could no longer give me any services!! What a cheek, thank God I found this forum by typing in their phone number. Wish I had done this in the first place.

I've just received a call from an 'Arthur' who told me the exact same story about corrupted files on my home PC, and he had my full postal details. He was insistent to the point of being aggressive. I got his phone number out of him, googled it and found this site. As an aside, I'll be mailing our IT team at work, so they can mail (and warn) all.

To say I am furious would be an understatement. These people phoned my son and persuaded him to let them into his computer. He is still at school. He believed them. Fortunately he told me and I told him it was a scam. He has not used his computer to surf the internet since. I am going to take it into work tomorrow to run commercial anti-virus on it. I have just received a phone call from this company asking to speak to my son. I refused and asked them to give me more information. He said (Harry was his name) that my son had a two year subscription to a security system but when I quizzed him about the name of it he could not tell me. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He refused. I told him that he had cold-called my son and it was illegal to do so and that he should not under any circumstances phone my number again.

I received a call from someone on this number saying that the files on my computer had been corrupted. That they were the service provider for Microsoft Windows 7. I asked how they knew this and he told me that my computer had automatically sent a message to them when I updated my files. Thankfully my broadband connection had been down all day so I was unable to let him talk me through. He gave me this number to call him back once I had got a connection. Instead I Google Searched the name of the company SSM Support Services which does seem to be a genuine company of sorts. I decided to run a scan and and found no problems. Thank you Ian

I have just received same phone call and thought this sounded very unusual. Was concerning that they had my full details: name and full address. I said I would phone them back once I looked into this. I did not want to press any keys on my pc and give them info. Searched the internet and saw the two comments from Ian Duncan and Reynoldson - thank you for your comments.

I have had a 30 minute phone call from these people telling me that I have a serious problem with my computer. After refusing to give any information they said they would put me through to an engineer. I asked if I could check with my IT guy and call back at which time they gave me this phone number which I searched to find a very useful comment from Ian Duncan (thank you Ian) I read the message to them and said that I would be terminating the call. Hence my complaint against this number

This appears to be a scam, where the operator has got spyware in your computer and can see information. They claim to be from Windows and offer to help you eradicate problems, then ask you to help them verify that they are genuine by showing you how to find your Windows contract number, which they then say to you, before you have read it on the screen, and tell you that only a genuine Windows technician would know it, they then ask you to check a folder on your computer to see if repairs are required, then offer to transfer you to a technician. At this point you have only looked at your "C" drive, so hopefully it is relatively harmless. I hung up at this point and checked out the scenario with a IT friend. Apparently what they do then is to advise you are not still under any Windows warranty and need to pay a fee for the repair. No doubt there is some way they are profiting from the phone call also.
