this isnt a complaint - dont ignore calls from this number. Mine was from Sainsburys bank about my credit card and they picked up on two fraudulent transactions that had taken place within the hour...only a few weeks after the same had happened on my debit card. god only knows where my details had been obtained from.

This number is a fraud prevention numer but it refers to Sainsburys credit cards. All ok

To add to other comments. We got an automated call stating it was HBOS card security and asking us to call. A check with HBOS call centre confirmed it was a genuine number. My wife called - they had locked her credit card because of a couple of attempts to use it at an ATM with incorrect pin. She'd actually by mistake put her credit card in the ATM instead of her debit card, so had tried to use it with the wrong pin before noticing her mistake. So, genuine number.

For what it is worth i think this a genuine call from the HBOS fraud department. I have just had one myself and rang back but got an automated response which i was not happy with. So i rang HBOS directly with a number of my credit card bill. There was a suspicious transaction that they wanted to check. Unfortunately whilst the intent is laudible the way they are going about this is not helpful and appears suspicious. If you do get one of these messages don't ignore it but use a number for HBOS of your statement and ask them to put you through to their fraud dept.

This is a phone number for Halifax / Bank of Scotland fraud detection. I got this message as they were trying to verify transactions on a Sainsbury's Bank credit card (which is issued by HBoS). If you've had problems with using a credit card, that's probably triggered the call. If you don't want to return the call, call your bank back on their regular number and they'll put you straight.

I received a call on my answerphone simply asking me to return the call quoting a reference A?P. I did not return the call as I assumed it was a cold call. There was no ID given for the source of the call. How can I block this number from contacting me

Useless time-wasting people who should get out there and find a real job. Anyone who works for these companies deserve no sympathy. All they deserve is every single ounce of sarcasm and unpleasantness if you actually find yourselves talking to them.

Left voicemail telling me to call back with reference ADP/T - no details as to caller's identity - recording only - female voice with Scottish accent. Thought it was my dentist (ADP), but decided not to return call, as didn't recognise number.
