Placed an ad to sell my car in Auto Trader. Was called by this number, asked if the car was still for sale and whether I would be in that afternoon as they had "a number of buyer enquiries" about my car. Answered yes to all that - then they move in for the kill ... all I needed to do was pay a little registration fee to sign up for their "vehicle matching service" which would guarantee me a fast sale, and then they'll refund the fee afterwards. Wow. The company name is "Premier Match", apparently. Had a look at Companies House ... would that be "PREMIERMATCH UK LIMITED, incorporated August 2008, Nature of Business: Unknown, in Finchley" or "PREMIER MATCH LIMITED, makers of matches and lighters, in Liquidation"? I can find no evidence of any website for this "vehicle matching service" which begs the question of how exactly all these interested buyers have found it easier to get in touch with them, than simply to look at a more well known "vehicle matching service" such as, oh I don't know ... Auto Trader?
I placed an advert to sell my car on a local community website. It is unlikely anyone from London would want to travel the distance to my area for a relatively cheap car, and as I have had calls from similar numbers to 020 844 53866 in the past when selling items, i gathered what the call would be about. The caller enquires about your car (or item), then cuts the call off in the hope you are desparate to sell and will call them back on their number. We then get charged an astronomical amount by calling them back. Being aware of what they were intending, i told the caller i was not interested. The caller responded by saying "less of the attitude mate". My advert clearly said i did not want to be contacted by anyone offering services or anything of a commercial nature. Although the caller would deny this is what the call is about, neither are they a genuine buyer, and are wasting my time, and could cost me money if i was to call them back. So don't call them back!!
